I'm a huge basketball fan. This time of year is my favorite because it marks the return of the NBA, and in a couple weeks, college basketball. This is a season I've been looking forward to for a number of reasons on both levels of the game. There are so many intriguing things I'm looking forward to seeing unfold. In college, I'm looking forward to seeing my North Carolina Tar Heels take the court in what I feel could be a really good season in Chapel Hill. There has been an acedemic scandal at the university, but hopefully the worst of that is over. As a life long Carolina fan, I certainly hope that the issues surrounding that situation are on their way to being sorted and solved as a whole, and as it pertains to the basketball team. Especially since it is all centered around the African American Studies program. Anyway, I am looking forward to seeing the Heels play this season because I think the group of players on the team this year will provide a good mixture of youth and experience. If the returning players improved in certain areas, and the newcomers (freshmen) can come in and learn the college game quickly, I think this year's team could make a nice run in the NCAA Tournament. On the NBA level, there are tons of things I am interested in seeing. Cheif among them is the level of sucess LeBron James and the Cleveland Cavs will have. 'Bron returning to Cleveland after 4 years with the Miami Heat was the biggest story of this off season. In addition to that the team did things like trade for Kevin Love and re-sign Kyrie Irving. Cleveland is a definite contender, but I have many questions about how they'll gel as a team. Also, there are the returns of players like Kobe Bryant (Go Lakers) and Derrick Rose from injuries. Many things will make this NBA season interesting, and I am here to see it all. So, with that said, I say welcome back basketball. I've missed you.
